do the sr torquer 305 heads take both valve covers

Do these heads take both centerbolt valve covers and outside bolt valve covers.Summit sent me the wrong roller rockers that will not work with centerbolt valve covers. And they said that the heads that are also on there way will work with both valve covers. And the roller rockers say they need to have guideplates and hardened pushrods installed and the heads say they dont require guideplates, what is the deal.thanks for anyones help.

As far as I know they will take both styles of valve covers.

only if you bought the heads that are before 87. I have the 87 later and only have centerbolt holes.

I did a cam swap with new lifters and pushrods and reused the stock 305 heads...after about 100miles one of the rocker studs broke and took a chunk out of the head...that is why I bought the torquers. I used new pushrods again and new rockers and have not had a problem. With the Torquers I do feel a definate SOP increase but I didn't run my car before to get a good baseline. No I didn't use guide plates.

THE 305 S/R TORQUERS (87 AND UP) I HAVE WILL ACCEPT EITHER THE CENTER-BOLT COVERS OR THE PERIMETER BOLT COVERS.
THE CENTER BOLT VALVE COVERS WILL NEED SOME MODIFICATION TO FIT PROPERLY.

the 87+ heads will accept both style valve covers but the bosses for the perimeter covers need to be drilled and taped.that's what i had to do with mine.

MINE CAME DRILLED AND TAPPED FOR THE PERIMETER BOLT PATTERN BUT I HAD TO MODIFY THE CENTER-BOLT COVERS TO MAKE THEM FIT.
THE MODIFICATION INVOLVED GRINDING THE INNER RIDGE IN THE COVERS IN THE AREA WHERE THE PERIMETER BOLT BOSSES.

Checked to see and yes they are drilled for both.

I used the stock centerbolt valve covers and they went on without any tapping or grinding of the covers.
