Fuel Pressure Woes

Hey guys.. have a problem, well 2. I got my AFPR in now... and an Accel fuel pressure guage.. first of all, the guage jumps all over the place... i do not know why... second, when i rev it up, the pressure seems to drop (i say seems, because the guage jumps around soooo much, its hard to tell).. any ideas?

Well obvioiusly make sure you have everything hooked up right, but also replace teh fuel filter (its cheap and probably needs it anyway). If that doesnt' do it check the fuel pump and sock on the pickup (pain in the butt).

Yeah.. I think it may be air in the lines. I had problems with the guage seating properly on the Shroader valve, i had to bend the line on the guage straight so it would seat, maybe it's still leaking a tad ( i can't see anything coming out)

Are you checking the fuel pressure with the vacuum line off or on? You need to check it with the line off and properly capped so as not to have a vacuum leak. Either way, it shouldn't be jumping around a bunch like that...... and if you had air in the lines it would be purged by the time the engine starts as the fuel pump would push any air out right away. Something doesn't sound right.........

Another thought too Nathan is possible replacing the fuel pump relay...at least before assuming it might be the FP itself. The relay is less than $20 and takes less than 30 seconds to replace...could be a quick fix.
