Lt4
Lt4
What's the difference b/w the LT4 induction and the LT1 induction systems? I realize that the LT1 has been successfully adapted onto an L98. I am curious as to the possibilities of an LT4 being adapted as well, and if this would provide more horsepower opportunities.

I've done the LT4 intake swap and the only major difference between it and the LT1 intake is the position of the ports. The LT4 has raised ports that sit higher up than those on the LT1. The LT1 intake matches up very well from what I've heard to standard style heads like the ones on a stock L98 or aftermarket ones like AFR, TFS, etc. I used the GM Fast Burn heads for my swap. They have the raised runner design of the Vortec heads so the ports match up better to an LT4 intake a opposed to an LT1. There was some slight port matching that needed to be done on the intake. I gasket matched the ports to Felpro 1255 gaskets. I ended up having to take about .1" of material off the top of the port. I didn't have to touch the ports on the heads. Other than that, the rest of the modifications were exactly like what needs to be done to the LT1 intake. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions.
