MAT relocation kit
MAT relocation kit
The only place I've found them is TPIS.com
It makes your Prom think that the engine is getting colder air. I've heard they're a very good mod, but that all they really do is make the Prom raise the fuel pressure a couple of PSI. Still, it's cheaper than buying an AFPR and guage. Just wondering what your guys thoughts were and if you've used one or not. Thanks. -Brian

I think it makes the ECM see a cooler temp and enrichen the fuel mixture. It's probably a good mod for a stock car but my car runs so rich I really don't need it. At the track you can just ice the pleunum down between runs.

I did the mod on my car, just bought a sensor and wire, much cheaper than a kit. Don't know if it did anything since I never drove the car with the TPI and had the MAT in the stock location.
The MAT is plugged into the Drivers side intake Pipe, you should be able to see it in this picture,

Brian,
The MAT sensor reports intake air temperature to the ECM. The MAF ECM only uses this data for determining the cold start routine and EGR/EVAP control. Speed density ECMs use this data to slightly skew the injector pulse widths in closed loop mode.
The ECM does not control fuel pressure, the FPR does that all by itself in conjunction with intake vacuum.
Relocating the MAT does not require a kit. You can do it with about $15 worth of connectors and wires and this download:
MAT Sensor Relocation.pdf
The AFPR does not have to cost a lot, either. You can convert your stock unit to a fully adjustable one for less than one dollar in parts if you follow these directions:
AFPR Conversion.pdf
And a fuel pressure gauge should cost no more than $25-30. In addition to setting fuel pressure, it can be a great diagnostic tool to have in your box.
