hey i know this is for 3rd gen camaros,but the engine would be comin out of one,so what do you guys think bout a 305 tpi into a 89 s-10?thats the new project after i get my 84 runnin again.

 

It's a fun and fairly easy swap. Well, I did a TBI, but it's close enough to what you're doing. Just don't waste your money on any "S-10 V8 Conversion" manual, namely the one by JTR (JagsThatRun), unless you can get it for only a few bucks. It sure as hell ain't worth $25.

 

Jeez. My buddy and I thought that JTR manual was great. He bought it a couple years ago and found it to be quite informative.

 

Its not TPI, yet. 305 out of an 86 Firebird.

I have a 91 305 TPI in my 85 S-10. Works great and has been compleatly reliable. After four years and 80,000 miles, I still wouldn't trade it for a new truck!

 

Hey guys, I've been considering doing this swap myself. I've got a 305 sitting in my garage, and I'm in need of a winter vehicle, so I"ve been thinking about picking up a cheap 4 wheel drive S10. Have any of you guys put one into a 4 wheel drive? I've heard that i should look for a 2.8 truck instead of a 4.3 because aftermarket motor mounts are available. What sort of stuff will I need to do in order to complete this swap? Radiator? front springs?

Will the tail shaft of the V6 700R4 bolt to one of my V8 700R4s? What else do I need?
