differences in two LPE cams

Obviously, the lift is different and that is why I'm looking at going w/ # 74216 on my stock head L98. Springs/clearance will be dealt w/ but I just want a simple LTR setup that will run decent. Intake and exhaust are already taken care of . . . Is there really anything sgnificant between these cams that I'm missing as I know #74211 if often recommended in LTR cars, I just don't hear much about #74216.

Thanks

this is a subject i am starting to learn about (cam profiles), and from what ive read, i seems like the only main difference is the slightly more intake duration on the 216 cam over the 211. also, the lift on the 211 is greater, as you mentioned, and would not be recommended for stock type spring applications. i would go with the 216 in your case (when i decide its cam swap time in my vette, this is the bumpstick i am going with).

You guys have got it right. If you keep the stock GM heads you shouldn't have to machine the valve guides when running the 216. The 211 has a little more performance potential due to the higher lift, but not enough to get excited about.
