Solid Lifter cam

I am going to put a TPI on an engine with a solid lifter cam in about 2 months. I was wondering if anyone has had problems with the Knock sensor picking up false knocks due to the cam noise.
Thanks,
J

Thank you. By that, I am guessing that the chamber knock is a lower tone / freq. than the cam freqs. So you are saying that there is no problem using a solid cam and a knock sensor together.
Thanks

Assuming that there was 1 lifter LOUD enough to pick up on the knock sensor (its not really a *KNOCK* its just noise) it would only be half as frequent as the pistons movement. It wont send a vibration through the block that the sensor will detect. Plus there are even more options, such as desensitizing the sensor, or prom tuning so it takes out less retard.

Hope that helps

You are right........I should have thought of that......cam spins 1/2 crank. Thanks. I am just going to try it and fix it up with the PROM if I have to. Or the old silicon on the knock sensor trick. I was just curious if someone has already tried it.
I have a friend with a VW that retards the timing due to a bad lifter. I don't know how sensitive the GM to this. Maybe I should post "if anyone is running a junk set of lifters and ECM"
Thanks,
J

I have put 900 miles on my new motor (in my sig) and I don't pick up any knock from the solid roller cam. I have just done a basic tune with the PROM so it is not dialed in yet, but you should be fine.
