1985 305 TPI IROC Z Camaro

Hey

I have a 1985 IROC Z Camaro.... It has the 305 TPI. The only mod to the car is an ADS chip. I am wondering what it will take to get my car to run low 14s.

I am thinking of using the following mods:
- SLP Headers
- K&N Filters
- Airfoil
- Transgo shift kit
- AFPR
- MSD 6A ignition
- morsos plugs and wires

I hear that some people are using CORVETTE servos on there transmissions. What will the CORVETTE servo do. What are the advantages to the servo. Disadvantages....

The car has 215HP and 275 TORQUE according to the stock stats from GM. What will my HP and TORQUE be after all those mods...
thanks alot

The corvette servo allows the tranny to shift into OD at higher speeds and higher throttle input. I don't think it will help you in the 1/4. The headers are a very good idea, with a hi flow cat or test pipe in place of the cat and a catback exhaust. I'd get the K&N and do the free mods like cutting out the airbox and stuff like that. The airfoil gain is minimal and highly debated on this site. Keep in mind that if you buy a T-body you won't be able to use the airfoil. Any type of ignition upgrade is good, hard to tell how much it helps. I'm sure others can add better info because they have a 305, but definetly do exhaust. Later

Alright! Another 85 Iroc-Z! Nice choice and might I add a nice looking car. Before you start any modding or hammering on the car I'd get a set of subframe connectors. Yeah they're heavy, but the stock F-body frame is crap. I've seen plenty of stress fractures on BONE STOCK cars, hard top and T-top alike. Harder shifts from that shift kit will give you even more. Aside from that JAY87GTA is on the money. Start off by freeing up your exhaust and intake. You can do low 14's no problem without breaking into the engine. You're on the right track. I'd skip on the MSD 6A for now though, it's not really worth the money to you right now IMO.

I just took the original 305 out of my car
and with the following mods I was running in the 14.20-14.30 range with good traction
(1.8-1.9 60") at a little over 95mph

ads chip-no noticeable gain

k&n's, gutted airbox, air foil,- all together they gave me about 2/10

relocated battery, took off a/c and emissions- 1/10 sec. gain + alot of traction.

Cowl hood and edelbrock TES with 2 chamber flowmaster gave me almost a 1/2 second.

totally stock the car ran 15.20's - 15.0's with iced plenum and no front swaybar

As you can see the exhaust gave me my biggest gains by far, hope this helps

Ya, forgot. Subframe connecters are a must, if you want to keep your car looking as good as it does.
