Why is it taking so long? Just getting the cast smooth?

I did mine, the first one took forever. But I figured it out and it only took me about 2 hours to do the second. I used an angle die grinder and some of those roloc pads. Really knocks the casting down quickly. I then used some of those cross buffs to finish them out. It isn't perfect but good enough for me and under my hood!

ya its taking so long cause of the cast. I get to where I'm usig 400 grit and notice a couple more spots. then start over on htat spot, and on and on and on. I'm not going for perfection but with the spots its just not shiny enough for me.
I've used dremel, angled bits almost everything. doesn't work good enough. just thought I'd throw this up

SLP offers polishing for those runners, does anyone know how much they charge to ship them already polished? May be worth the money, but if it's over $100 bux i would'nt pay it....anything below that would be resonable for saving you time/labor.

Use a brass wheel (fine) and hit them with that first. Go very lightly - it will smooth it out very nicely. Then hit it with the grey compound on the buffing wheel, then brown, then white compound. Shouldn't take you more than 1.5 to 2 hours per runner.

i FOUND THAT OUT WITH MINE A FEW YEARS AGO..... I called a polishing place and 60 BUCKS later and 2 days went by and BANG!!!!! show polished runners....The way I saw it...it would have taken me roughly 10-12 hours of busting my *** to get it done....Its hard workI felt my time and effort on that kind of labor exceeded 6 bucks an hour so I sent them out...Mine were polished like chrome and sealed with some coating to keep them polished like new...

Dont get me wrong I can polish...I did my TB and my Plenum...Both look great but those are a lot easier to do....Plus mine are not sealed so the constantly need to be shined up where the runners dont...

When I order my slp runners and I'm finished siamiesing them I'm either going to get them chromed or get them polished.
