Comp Cams suggests this cam for me...
If you are stroking the motor and plan on programming the computer then I would use our part number 08-502-8. This cam has 269/276 advertised duration and 495/503 and a 112 lobe separation. You should talk to Superchips or Hypertech about the programming. Here is a link to the specs. http://www.compcams.com/information/...umber=08-502-8 ...they were also made aware of the fact that I would be retaining my factory ported tpi set-up, as well as my factory ported aluminum heads. What do you guys think?

It''s their job to be on the conservative side. The stock intake and the computer is why they chose that one.

With a 383 you can go a little bigger duration. Unless you've ported those heads, the lift seems fair, because those heads stall out about .500 lift, from everything I've read.

I went with the same cam in my 350 tpi. I have TF heads also. I am also running the stock chip right now. Vacume is no concern and mine idles smooth at 550 in drive. Its hard to believe its teh stock chip too. Performance wise it feels no faster then stock heads and stock cam but thats probebly because of the chip.
