Name that harness

After looking at wiring diagrams till I've gone blind, I still can't figure out what this wire harness is supposed to be connected to. Its again on an 87 Iroc, 350 TPI... Its on the wire loom that comes out of the dash on the drivers side and wraps over the top of the power brake booster then drops down and goes behind the engine... Its a two pin/wire weatherpak connector with a Pinkw/blk and a blk wire, right at the bottom before the loom heads behind the block. I can't find anything in the area that it should go too, but its not extremely dirty or melted so it doesn't look like its been disconnected very long. Anyone know what its for?

Does the car run with no codes?I went out to the garage and looked at mine and the only thing I could see where you are describing was the oil sending unit,O2 sensor, and a lead that goes back to the tranny, probably the speed sensor or tcc lockup.I'm either too fat or my car is too low for me to get under it without jacking it up.Do the pulse wipers work?Just stabbing in the dark.....

Everything works, no codes... some of the guages are a little flaky, the water temp guage has been out for awhile now... From the bottom is closest to the oil filter, in relation to anything else... from the top its close to the back edge of the drivers head and the firewall, just below the wiper pump... Wipers work fine also.

Drew,

When you turn on the ignition, is there 12VDC on the pink/black wire? The ECM/Ignition power circuit (circuit #439) uses a pink/black wire commonly throughout the system for ECM and IGN powered devices, and is sourced at the ECM fuse in the main fuse panel. If you remove that fuse, does the power disappear? If not, circuit #39 also uses a pink/black wire through the system and is powered by the IGN fuse, so check that too.

There is also an ignition powered circuit connector that used a pink/black and black wire (12VDC and ground) that connects to NOTHING on several of my diagrams, but those are carbed or V-6 engine cars.

Also, it may be a connection to the ESC module. If the wire has faded or discolored, and may have actually been oragne/black, it could be the park/neutral switch on the trans. The EGR solenoid is also a pink/black wire, but with a dark gray ground instead of black.

Hopefully one of those will get you closer to identifying the "mystery" connector.

Hmm... I'll have to connect the battery and try that...
The wiring isn't long enough to be for the trans... and I'm pretty sure its pink with a blk stripe and a black wire.... I'll double check here in a bit
