why for???

Now don't burn me if this is a stupid question. I looked around for the answer but decided to ask anyhow. What good would come from a throttle body bypass? i read a "how-to" on another page and was wondering exactly what that would do to make it worth the effort. Thanks

Effort? That's the easiest thing I've ever done to my car. Basically it makes the intake cooler by not allowing warm coolant to flow through it, and colder air is denser, and more air = more power.

ahah! a "free mod" as it were eh? so if it is a good idea and makes more power then why didn't GM do it to begin with. What was the purpose of having it the way it was set up?

b/c GM claims that in extreme cold conditions that the throttle body blades could freeze, and the hot coolant would prevent this.

I have never had a problem in michigan.

The best part is without the coolant lines you can take the TB off in about 3 minutes to clean it.

you park it outside all night or do you have a garage to keep your girl in? also do you have a plug in heater, I have friends that used to live in Michigan and they had the plug in heaters to keep their cars from freezing up. Thanks

She is always in the garage. But I had an 85 TA before this one and it was parked outside and not plugged in at all. And I never had a problem with that one either.

It really is not going to give you a lot of performance gain, but every little bit helps!
