Top choices for engines
Hey guys, I'm currently getting some money together to buy a new engine for my 87 Z28, and I don't know what I want to put in it or what will work in it. It currently has a 305 TPI in it (working on throwing a rod, pistons and heads are torn to hell), and I would really like a 350 or bigger. The 350's have a lot of potential, but I want to go as big as I can w/o having to do a whole lot of re-enforcing. I appreciate any suggestions you can give me. Here's a pic of my current situation.....(keep in mind, it's been sitting for 3 years.....takes me forever to reach my goals....LOL)

Well, the biggest small block you can go would be a 400. Theyre kinda hard to come by though. They are the same dimensions as all other small blocks: a direct bolt in. Only real difference is in the bore, and heads. 400's are basically the best bang for the buck IMO.
I agree with 88 WS6. 400's are nice if you can find one. If you can't, a 383 makes a very nice alternative. If properly built, it will churn out similar power & torque numbers a 383, but your power band won't be as fat.
Crate Motor!!
World products sells a 415 small block crate motor
