Fuel in the plenum?

I'm still learning things about my TPI LB9 engine but I was wondering if there is supposed to be standing fuel in the back of the plenum. I hope its not a dumb question

If you have fuel standing in the back of your plenum, you have a ruptured fuel pressure regulator. Now would be a good time to install an adjustable one. You may not need it now but someday you will.

Once upon a time...

When I was a rookie tech at the 1st Chevy dealer I ever worked for the guy next to me replaced an engine in a 87 Iroc because the mains were junk at 110k. After the install was complete and he test drove it the oil was full of fuel. He immediately thought he had an injector hanging open and bleeding down pressure after the ignition was switched off. Approx. 8 hrs. later he finally learned that a failed fuel pres. regulator was flooding the intake so badly that fuel was being forced past the rings and into the bottom end. This over time, led to the failure of the main bearings due to the dilution of the oil viscosity and ultimately the lack of lubrication to the entire engine. The mains just happened to be the first to bite the dust. Don't wait Fix it before it is driven much more or you'll be sorry
