need opinions (cam, etc)

well I see the stock L98 cam specs for 1992 is at a 202 int, 207 exh duration w/ .413/.428 lift.

Here is my situation. I have a spare set of '87 L98 heads and decided to go ahead and port them and throw them on, along with a nice, decent cam. I have worked L98 heads before and seen some awesome numbers, so that is not an issue. Here's the kicker: I declared myself "done" with this car, so budget is an extreme issue. I want to re-use ALL my valvetrain INCLUDING the valve springs. I would like a cam thats not too crazy and that will really love the nitrous.....kind of like what the Comp nitrous cams claim to do. I'm looking at around 218-220 duration on the int. for the cam.

What is the max lift I can run up to w/ the stock springs? I suppose if I MUST replace springs, its not a big deal, but I would like ones that have the stock diameter so that I dont have to do any machinig for them.

Also, I will port and match the base and plenum all together along w/ match to the heads. Is my throttle body going to be a restriction at this point? It is a stocker...but I see they use this on the RJ 502!!! SO I guess not???

What are your recomendations for a cam for me guys? I will replace springs if its absolutely necessary....mods are in sig...dont forget about the spray..I like the nitrous cams I see in jegs/Summit. What about the "TPI" cam from SLP in Summit? I dont have the specs w/ me but I hear good about them.

Where will my bottleneck be at this point?

I believe about the max lift you'll live with on stock springs, espeically used ones that already have been worn is going to be about .460, at least I wouldn't go any over that, loosing .5 hp from staying under .500 will be worth not floating a valve and ruining everything. I dont have a recommended cam but I'd say something with 212/218 duration, 112 LSA, and 450-460 lift or so. As far as your TB forget it, when you break 400hp then get a new one, and you wont with stock (yes even ported) L98 heads.

Good luck

hmmm, so anywhere near 218 OR 220 int. duration is TOO much you think? I was leaning upwards around there.
