86 back AFR 195 Heads on 88 L98?

I have a wild 383 I built and it is just sitting in the shop now. The motor is a bit extreme for the tpi. I was wondering if I could take the AFR Heads off of the 383 and slap them on the L98? I know they are for 86 and back motors but they accept centerbolt valve covers. Anybody have any answers for this or should I just look into buying some vortecs or trading off the AFR's for 87 up AFR's?

They'll work just fine; the only thing you have to worry about is the angle of the two center bolts on each side of the intake; some quick work with a die grinder and a large washer on top and you're good to go.

Great...I was hoping so...So if I put those heads on what else should I do to it at the same time? Cam (hr xtreme energy) headers/exhaust, double roller timing chain, intake, pentelum, runners, coil, thottle body, chip......what sound good to start out with....I want to get the heads on asap! So what should I AT LEAST DO while I am changing the heads because all of the above adds up pretty quick $ wise but I plan on doing everything eventually

If you do cam and timing gears with heads, then you never have to go that deep again to do intake or exhaust in the future.

As long as you have your plan in mind you can do it piecemeal and still have a strong motor.
