Ford Ratings

I was wondering how ford rated their vehicles for power...When they rate HP and TQ is it at the fly wheel or at the rear wheels. Mustangs in particular. If one was rated at 225hp and 300ftlbs TQ. And do they under rate? How bout GM does GM rate at the flywheel or rear wheels?

Thanks!

All cars are rated at the flywheel. The under/overrating thing you'll never know. I'd say in most cases lately, its not done. The 5.0's are pretty close to the figure you posted as long as its not a SN95 version.

It's rated as it would be in the car (ie. accessories in place).

As for the whole underrated thing, in the Holley 2000 catalogue i remember seeing a stock dyno of a mustang 5.0 and it wasnt 220hp. I'll dig up the catalogue later.
