Anyone ever run one of these bone stock? Just curious what the number would be on a car like this...if I buy it, I may be too chicken to run the 1/4 with it for fear of blowing something up in a car I can't afford easily anyways
'89 Formula 305 TPI
Automatic
2.73 gears with posi
Any estimates?? Anyone know a rough 0-60 on this car too? I know this is the slowest possible combo for a TPI, but it would still be good to know what she can do...thanks

Probably mid to high 15's. I don't think you will blow anything up on the track with around 200 HP.
I made dozens of low 13 street tire passes without breaking anything.
I have actually broke parts on the street(rear/trans)
Also, I would be great to baseline your car in case you do some mods in the future. I would have loved to run my car when I first bought it bone stock.
Do the little things and free things and you can go high 14's for a couple hundred bucks.

I think high 15s are right on the money the stock lg4s run mid to low 16s with 2.73s and you have the tourque to do a little better. my 305 had 3.23 gears and ran 15.5 stock .
haha hey take that back u haven't seen my 305 go yet !! i gota 1988 IROC Z, 305 TPi, 3.23 gears, A4, when i took it to the track bone stock it was running 14.8-14.9's.. but i dont think u can really go by what my car ran cuz if u haven't noticed already its a bit of a freak from the factory.. but u never know, that formula could be the same way.. i haven't done too many mods to it yet, just a few, now i got it running about 13.9's n/a.. i got NOS comming in soon and i'm hoping for some 12's.. but i'm happy being in the 13's.. good luck man !! mike..

Hey thanks for the responses everyone. I have decided to buy the car, as I'm getting a 103k mile, one middle aged woman owned '89 Formula for a grand
I love working for a dealer!!!
The car is going to stay bone stock for awhile...right now its more a project of getting the suspension, steering and interior back to top form (although the interior only needs VERY small stuff). Just wanted to see what I'd run if I did a tune up and brought it to the track for a few pulls this summer
Hell, this thing at the track would be easier for me to pull a 15.5 with than bringing my Z28 6 speed and pulling a 14 flat...I can shift, but I can't launch
