vss controle the torque converter?

hey!
I am trying to get some more speed out of my car. It dosn't seem to want to go any faster than it's registered for. It's an 86 Iroc-z 305 tpi 700r4. And it was built in january, so it has the 85 mp/h speedo. I can get the car there pretty quick but that's about it, At about 95 or so...that's all she wrote! Maybe a speed limiter?... So I'm thinking about putting a switch on my vss. That way the car won't know how fast it's going and i might be able to bypass the speed limiter.(if there is one) I will also lose the speedo when it's switched off...but will that affect my torque converter?... Would it still engage?
any help would be great...even just your 2 cents.

the VSS controls the TC lock-up...without it your converter won't lock...also controls the egr....if u wanna run w/out the VSS and still have your TC lock u can put that on a switch as well....tech article on it, very simple...check it out
