Hi Tranny experts, I'm planning on changing my fluid here soon and was wondering what would you recommend for fluid and filter. tranny was rebuilt about 3 yrs ago and fluid was changed since then but I want to change it myself. thanks.

my father has this werid thing about not messn with auto trannys....he will not change their fluid or filters......he was a mechanic for 30 years......there has to be something behind that..... I prefer a stick shift tho.

Some Manual trans you dont have to change the fluid at all. Though In my car when I get it done Ill use a synthetic ATF fluid. That would run your a bill but Its better then using some cheap stuff that breaks down and wears out your trans.

AMSOIL synthetic ATF is the best stuff out there. If you can't find it locally (check the Yellow Pages before you give up), it's available from www.amsoil.com.

I prefer the Puralator filter/gasket kit to Fram. Better gasket, for one thing. Hastings makes good products, too.

For a good way to get all of the old fluid out, follow these directions http://www.amsoil.com/faqs/faq8.htm.
