hurst shifter Instillation
hurst shifter Instillation
ok i'v had a few posts about instilling this shifter in the past and well now here's one more little problem i'v run into. i have the shifter installed and now im hooking up the rods. when i hooked up the rods i got 1st and 2nd working fine, but the transition from 2nd to 3rd is no good. the shift pattern is so weird that to get to third you have to go so far up the shift pattern that it puts it self back into first, therefore elimating 3rd gear to engage.. the shifter is a hurst indy 4 speed.. and right now im deciding on weather to bring it down to a transmission shop and just pay the big $$$'s for them to fix it..
any replys would be great guys
thanks again

Hurst Pro-Matic 2 Installation
6 year bump!
No but really, I'm thinking about putting my hurst pro-matic 2 on top of the 700R4. Has anyone here done this? First thing I notice right off the rip is stock shifter has 2 cables, hurst has 1... The shifter came with my parts car, so I don't have an instruction manual, but I did get lucky and find all the different brackets for other transmissions in the hatch box. . If anyone has an install manual, posting it would be appreciated too...
If anyone needs one of these other brackets, figure out which and hit me up. You can have it.
I'm taking pics as I go, and planned on doing a write up, since the search here only leads to questions, no basic "how to's".
Goals would include:
Having all gears work.
(I've read you can't get it into 1st gear with these? That would be a deal breaker. The purpose is to "upgrade" right?)
Neutral safety switch
Reverse lights
Fit under a stock shifter plate.
(Anyone can hack a huge hole and fit that giant boot on it... I have 2 spares that I can trim... It also looks like a small amount may need to come off the top of the shifter bracket, to fit under the stock plate.)

Re: Hurst Pro-Matic 2 Installation
I've got the shifter in place, the cable is routed, and I'm having some issues getting it adjusted to hit park and 1st... Kinda knew that was coming though.
