What transmission with 421sbc?

In the process of building a 421 small block and I know i'll need a new transmission, I would like it to be fully streetable and would like to find a transmission that will suit everday driving and weekend drag racing. Has anybody heard of that new mega raptor trans...do you think it would hold up?

Oh I almost forgot about the 300hp shot of nos that it will have to take.

Use the Street/Strip model of mine, unless you are putting out over 550 horsepower, then you would need the HD sleeved input drum, that adds about 100 more HP to the rating. I am a distributor for the 9.5" lockup torque converters from A.C.T. & Precision Industries. Both of these TC's work very well. Let me know if I can be of help?

I think that I probably will make over 500hp with the 300hp shot of nos. Do you have something that can handle this and still be streetable for everyday driving. What will the cost be also.

If I were you, I'd probably look at a TH350 or TH400. If you like to replace transmissions, go with a 700R4.

You are adding 300 HP of nitrous on top of what? How much do you think it is putting out now before any nitrous?

If you are going to have 730 HP total, then the TH400 is the only way to go to handle this amount of HP without any problems.

What about the th350? I heard they're easier to put in a third gen. How much will it cost to get a th400 & 350 built up? Where is the best place to purchase a built up th400 or th350?

The TH350 might be easier than the TH400 to install, but not as strong/reliable. Check out Spohn on the install, I hear he has the right parts to do this. There is nothing stronger or more reliable than the TH400. I still build these units, let me know?

I hear good things about you. How much do you think it would be and would I have to get a special driveshaft made for my vechicle?

The TH400 is shorter than the 700R4, so a longer driveshaft will be needed. The TH400 has a larger output shaft, so you would need that also. The transmission would sell for $985.00 outright. It has a one year warranty. It comes with the factory deep pan, steel input hub, Trans-Go Performance Shift kit, Borg Warner Hi-Energy clutches, 4L80E BW Hi-Energy intermediate band, etc. Let me know?

Sounds good to me...i'll need it before the end of the year. Will there be a long waiting period for it to get built.

I really would like to have overdrive. What do you think about a 4L80-e transmission Pro-built?

It is to big, to heavy, need a computer, a complete rework of the transmission tunnel, different driveshaft, and about $3500.00 - $4500.00.

Did anyone on here try the Gear Vendors add on overdrive/ gear splitter? It would make the 400 a 6 speed and they claim it laughs at 1000hp ....

A th-350 will work just fine. Just gotta find someone that knows how to build it to handle the power.
My friend has a TH-350 going high 8`s in a STREET CAR.
650hp on motor plus another 300+ shot of nitrous on a 406.
Stepping upto a pro race fogger and isnt even thinking about dumping the th-350. Never broke it either

Man that's super expensive i'll rather just deal with no od. I think i'll have to tone down the hp on my new engine so I can use a pro-built.
