What exactly does the servo valve do?

Ive read alot about a corvette servo valve for 700 R4's. Why is this such a hot ticket item? Can someone explain what it does exactly. I know alot of you have Transgo shift kits. I have a B&M kit. Didint know about Transgo at the time. Is it difficult to swith over. Or can I use the B&M with, if I decide to go with it, the servo valve. First Id like to know what the hell it does.

Thanks

The Corvette servo applys the 2-4 band when the trans is in 2nd gear. It has more apply area, therefore firmer shifts can be attained. It acts as an accumulator when the trans goes into 3rd gear, it directs more oil to the 3-4 clutches. This will firm up 3rd gear a little. You can uninstall the B&M kit, but you will (in most cases) need another valve body plate. This is because the 2nd gear feed hole (in the VB plate) was drilled way to big (.110-.125). If you decide on doing this make sure you replace the VB plate with the same letter code that is on your VB plate. The Trans-Go Shift kit will fix other problems that are inherent in the 700R4.
