Can I take the computer out of my tranny

I am going to swap a 383 into my 92 RS, and I need to get my tranny rebuilt anyways... but in my swap I'm changing from TBI to carb, and so, I'm taking my computer out of the equation as much as possible. Is my automatic tranny controlled by my computer, and if so, can I make it NOT be controlled by the computer? I'm sending it out to get rebuilt, so should I tell the guy what I want?

Thanks...

Muzz

I don't think that the 92 had the 4L60E. I think 93 is when they came out. If that's so then there is no problem.
If your tranny is a 4L60E then it needs the computer to tell the solenoids when the make the shifts. I don't know if anyone makes stand-alone controllers for the shift timeing control.
I would try to find a way to keep the 4L60E.

Another option, is to find a slightly earlier 700R4 (87 or later) that is govenor shift controlled. You would need to transfere The tail housing, the steel speedo gear (impulse ring) and electronic speedo sensor so your speedo gage will still work. You would also need to acquire a TV cable bracket to hook up the the carb. Everything else should be the same.

hope this helped.

I am interested in doing this also, and heard something about like a manula valve body or something instead of a computer one. Also, is that TV cable that your talking about the kick down cable for the carb. Help is appreciated.
