Too low gears?

Right now I've got the stock 5-speed (with 2.95:1 first gear) and a 3.23:1 rear end. My '91 Camaro is daily driven, but I also want to make it a screamer off the line. The 350 that I replace my 305 with has all but eaten my current transmission, so I was thinking about replacing it with a Tremec TKO 5-speed (with the 3.27:1 first gear) and changing my 323 open rear to a 456 posi. With deepening the first gear ration and the rear end giving my a 14.91:1 take off vs. the 9.53:1 it's at now be too low? With the change I'll have a top speed of about 28MPH in first, but will I be able to get any traction when I gun it? I've got 275/60R15 Drag Radials on the rear.

With that steep 1st gear and 456s, you're goin to smoke thru some gears. If this is a daily driver I wouldn't go that low, you're goin to hate highway drivin. Plus you're going to need an engine that pulls past 6k if you want 1/4, though you're 1/8 mile will be nice. I still that you're overkilling it.

Daily driver and an engine that will pull to at least 5k, 3:73s won't be too bad.

Do you think it would pull the front tires (with the right suspension set up?) Does anybody know what it takes to pull the front tires up, just a little?

It's going to take more than gears and a steep 1st gear, it's going to take some serious torque and HP.

Gears=Torque
Don't they?
A car with 400ft/lbs, a 3.27 first gear, and a 4.56 rear end will put down (400x3.27x4.56/2) 3000ft/lbs of torque to each rear wheel.
And with 600ft/lbs, a 2.66 first gear, and 3.73s, you will also put down (600x2.66x3.73/2) 3000ft/lbs of torque to those wheels.
Therefore gears equal torque, right?

And why is posi a bad thing when you lift your front tires?
