Automatic console shifter question

Automatic console shifter question

How do you take off the push button on top of the shifter ****? I have a 91 Z28 1LE 5.7 Automatic. I'm getting a new hurst automatic shifter.

Transmission: 4l60e
Axle/Gears: 3.70
There is a little metal clip or staple on the front of the shifter ****. It can be hard to see, but pull that out first and the **** will slide right off.

It's the button on top of the ****. HOw do i pull it out before i get to the **** part?

I don't believe that you can. I think it's part of the **** assembly.
