Banging when pushing in clutch

I just started having this problem. When I push in the clutch it makes a loud banging noise. It sounds exactly like somebody is banging a hammer on the bellhousing. I had somebody push on the clutch while I was under the car and it sounds like from down there that it's from the bellhousing too. I don't know what it could be. It doesn't do it every time you push the clutch in but most of the time. It started a couple days ago after I drove it for about 30 miles. I haven't driven it that far since I put the super ram in (or that hard). The t-5 has 125k on it, Centerforce DF has 15k. Thanks guys.

Also, the car drives fine, but I'm afraid to drive it very far. Also the slave/master cylinder setup is new.

The wierd thing is if I press the pedal in very slowly, it will bang the same amount. It's like something is binding..

Yea, I read your post. That sucks. I'm going to probably do it myself since I don't have much money right now. I can take the transmission out in a couple hours I've done it so many times now lol

Sounds to me like you have a groove worn in the clutch gear bearing retainer where the throwout bearing slides over it, and it catches on the lip and makes the noise when it breaks loose.

A new bearing retainer is about $30-40, has 4 bolts and a "tubular style" gasket. The pain is, you have to pull the trans to change it.

So what's the worst that could happen if I continue to drive it?

Oh yea, this is the clutch from your car RB. I heard that you can't use a stock throwout bearing with the centerforce, so I'm glad I ordered the right one. It's working great though other than this problem, which it seems isn't the clutch.

Oh wow! I wondered how that went. Is the clutch itself OK? It worked great for me, I hope it's treating you right. I almost didn't replace it but since I had already bought one and had the car in pieces I went ahead and changed it out.

It won't really hurt anything if it's what I am suggesting, about all it will do is make the car a bit harder to drive. The bearing retainer is the piece that bolts onto the front of the trans, that the throwout bearing rides on.
