Question on custom driveshaft fit..too long?
I just went to put in the custom driveshaft I ordered. It fits, but just barely, and with the yoke bottomed out in the tranny at rest. To get the shaft in I have to unbolt the ladder bars and roll the rear back a half inch. I could lengthen the bars an 1/8 or so for a little bit of room..but I'm not sure if I should. How far from bottom should the yoke be in the tranny with the car at rest? the car has a th400, ford 9", and a ladder bar suspention.
I really don't wanna have to make another 2 trips out to the driveshaft place...it's like 2 hours away and I wanan drive the car%@%@%$*^*%.

The proper adjustment is to slide the yoke into the tranny then pull it back out 1". The ladder bars shouldn't cause the yoke to move very much anyway.
You could always cut a bit off the end of the yoke. I had to do that with mine. Fortunatly I have access to a chop saw but a lathe or milling machine would be better. I cut about 1/2" off then chamfered the end so it wouldn't cut the seal when installed.
How about moving the engine and tranny ahead 1/2"? It would have the same affect.
