hey guys, i went to the track on friday and i previously knew about the upshift problem in the 700r4's. i could not get it to shift once. i ran about 7 or 8 times throughout the night and i just couldn't get it to shift. i've heard that in order to shift it you have to be 3/4's throttle, but i tried that and stuff and it just wouldn't shift. how can i get it to shift without replacing that valve for now. i never got a time higher than 85 mph and ran consistant 15.8's becuz it wouldn't shift! i just stayed at that speed for a few hundred feet!!! help!

Are you talking about shifting into OD. There's no way around it without messing with the valve. Though for 1/4 performance you don't want to shift into OD, and unless you have some 4:10s you shouldn't have to.

 

well i don't shift it in o/d. i keep it in drive or shift manually. i nkow there's a valve to replace that costs $50 and you can shift at full throttle instead of the "3/4" bs.

 

Well, if you don't shift into OD, why are you worried about the valve then.

 

im really new but is this normal?????
when im racing in my 305 tpi 1991 z28 auto i go up to 5k rpms in 1st and then w/o lifting my foot i go to 2nd till 5k and 3rd and then 4th w/o lifting my foot at any time.
and its all stock

 

you have a new tranny so i thinkt hey fixed it by 91. i have an 87

 

No 700R4 from my knowledge will shift into OD @ WOT in stock form.

 

i nkow mine doesnt and a few of my friends have the same car and tranny and there's acts the same way as mine....just gotta replace the valve i guess
