Ok.. I have rebuilt tranny's before but never a rear end. I always sent them out to machine shops. Well question is, I know there are some reallt tight clearances, tollerances on the rear gear's. Cana person at home install them, or is there alot of tools that I would need and would not have to do it right?.

I have heard about you need this amount of shim this side, this amount that, and if it's wrong tear it apart and refigure the clearance's ect... Is it just better to have a shop do it?.

have the necessary patience for this....

Tools...
1. Depth mic...
many folks will insist that you have to have a pinion depth
setting tool. You can use a vernier dial caliper with a 4" base.

2. extra pinion gear bearing ( slightly honed out )

3. Bearing/seal pulling crap

4. Press
Around 100 bucks from harbor freight. (for the bearings,
wheel and axle) You can have this done pretty cheap.
If you get a "take off" Zexel torsen It will come with the bearings
already on it.

5. Slightly modified crowbar (weld a plate on the end)

6. Dial indicator with a magnetic stand

You should be good to go
