Auto to T56 Swappers: Did you change your chip?

I am about to do the swap and I have heard conflicting stories on how it will run with the stock auto chip in it. What did you guys do and how does it run?
Thanks

At first I ran my auto-trans chip and it worked fairly well, only bad thing was the idle speed while moving and in neutral or w/ the clutch in. The AUJP code wanted to hold the idle speed at ~1200rpm while the car was moving...I could see it on my scanner, desired idle RPM was ~1200rpm. As soon as I came to a stop, it would drop down to 750rpm.

I changed to code for a '91 Vette with ZF6 trans and the behavior stopped, it now snaps right down to 750rpm when I drop out of gear and coast.

Good luck w/ your swap!

I changed my chip. I have the equipment to customize and burn chips so it was no big deal.

But if I didn't have the equipment or money I would at least get a memcal (chip) from the dealer of a car that did have a manual trans and had the same engine, unless you have a 350, in which case you aren't going to find one.

Kevin, how did you "change to code for a 91 vette"? Did you do the chip yourself or did you actually put in a chip from a 91 vette?

Would anyone be nice enough to help me do a chip ?????

I burned a chip myself using the Vette binary as a starting point, copying in my previous VE and spark table data.

Check the diy-prom forum and TRAXXION's article at the top of the message list to get started on your own.

I have a 350 and left my auto chip in...didn't notice any difference other than the car being an assload more fun to drive...heh heh heh.
