where to get t56

I am thinking about converting my 700r4 to a T56, where is the best place to get the complete swap kit. Also do I need the pedal assembly from a third gen or a fourth gen??

also how much should I look to spend?
thanks

Call your local junkyards, and do a search online. There are alot of businesses that sell them online. I know speedautomotive.com sells them very frequently.
As far as the pedals, try to get a thirdgen set. The fourth gen pedals will require you to enlarge one of the mounting holes for it to line up. Its doable, but its a little more work.

On average, most people spend about 1500 for everything you are going to need, except for a crossmember, and a signal conversion box. Shop around though, you can definitely find them cheaper than that. Mine was 1300 for everything, but I've seen people get everything for a grand.

Damn! Where are you guys doin swaps for a grand????

Back when I did mine it was $2500+ for it.

I guess I DID use all perfomance stuff. The only stock items were the tranny and pedal assy. Still though...only a grand?

Must I say it again...DAMN!

I did my swap last year and it ran me about $1600. I got my t56 from ebay for $1,100. bellhousing from ebay for 150. the clutch and flywheel i got from a friend for nothing. crossmember on the boards for $80. clutch/slave cylinder i bought new from dealer for $120. didnty need pedals. finding a doner car with everything wil make it a whole lot easier on you since your not shopping all over the place for the parts. If you dont have the pedals then get the 4th gen ones.

I am about to do a t56 swap on mine as well, and so far I have found that it will cost in he neighborhood of 2500 to 3500. I found a guy that own a Camaro/Firebird salvage yard that sells engines and transmissions. I called and he sells a T56 with everything, (bellhousing, cluthc disc, hydralics, bolts, etc) for $2000. Throw in a few extra bucks and he will even ship it to you. his web address is www.scott.net/~bgraham
If you do buy from him, let me know how it works out. I have not bought anything yet for my swap, it will be a few months. So let me know if he is cool or not.

Look around, much better prices than Grahams. I found mine for $850, complete.
