Ford 9"

Well, I had a 9" in my 84 Z28 and it was a nightmare. The problem lies on how they weld the torque arm mounts to the 9" housing. Everything was fine until I went to the strip with a set of slicks mounted up. Left the line with the button pushed around 5 times and on the way home the rearend started to make noise. Three punkins and a new housing later it still made noise. Drove me nuts. The torque twists the housing and throws the gear settings off and what you get is noise. You won't brake but it will be noisy. Buy a 12 bolt from Strange that has the torque arm mounting cast into the housing just like from the factory.

Yes, I have a 9" in my 83 camaro. The torque arm mount is too far to the left, due to the larger center. The person who owned the car before my cut a hole in the floorpan for clearance, i wasnt happy when I found out, I had it welded, but now I cant lowered the car.. I would be happier with a 12 bolt.
