Trans cooler questions

I just bought a new radiator (aluminum Be Cool),but it is for a manual trans, I have an auto. It doesn't have a built in trans cooler. Can I run just an external cooler? And if so how big of a cooler should i get, should i just get the biggest one that will fit? I don't know if its possible to overcool a tranny.
I would also be interested in any recomendations as far as what brand cooler to use.

I know it's a lot of questions but thanks for any help

Brian,
If you can't get your hands on a Be Cool for the auto tranny then definately get the biggest tranny cooler you can find. I have a Be Cool radiator for the auto tranny as well as a 3 core tranny cooler that is approximately 12 inches long. I don't think brand really matters on the cooler as much as capacity.

Check this post on the Cooling board...

I think you should use an external cooler no matter what...the radiator is primarily there to cool the engine...

Thanks for the replies. I think I will just get the biggest one that I can find. I think it's rated at 24,000 gvw.

Thanks for the help,

Brian
