th350 kickdown ques.....

Just a quick question. Do I need to have the Kickdown cable or can I ditch it and block off the hole? The bolt that holds the cable sleeving is broke off and the sleeve is loose, which cause it to leak tranny fluid very badly. I would like to take care of this as soon as possible as this is becoming a very annoying problem.

Are you referring to the TV Cable on a 700? If so then you MUST have it and it MUST be set correctly. I say this because your signature lists a 700.

If you are talking about a TH350, I know some people run W/O it. I prefer to have it but it isn't as critical as a 700.

I swapped in a th350 in place of the 700r-4. Is it going to cause a problem if I cover the hole and not use the cable?

It will still be automatic, just won't downshift automaticly when you floor it, you will have to move the lever back to the desired gear then.

shifting manually is something I prefer anyway. As far as the paint goes, it is real life. Looks good from afar, but needs a little freshening up.

If you remember to downshift, it won't be a problem. Not downshifting when you should(going slower) will cause the TC to produce a lot of heat.
