T-5 to T-10 swap
I'm scrapping the 305 TBI in my '91 Firebird and putting a carburated 400 in it's place. The 400 puts out roughly 430 HP. Obviously, it would be wise of me to replace my stock T-5 tranny during the swap. I'm considering the Richmond Super T-10 to fill the void. I don't know much about this swap. I was hoping that the bell housing from my T-5 would bolt up to the T-10. Anyone know if this is the case? Also, will I be able to use my stock drive shaft?
I've never done the swap myself, but have considered it and researched it a little bit. I can tell you that the T5 bellhousing will not work because it is set up for a canted mounting. The T10 mounts straight up. I have a lakewood bellhousing that is drilled and tapper for both the canted and straight up. It also has the mounting for the hydraulic slave cylinder. I haven't researched what type of clutch set up you could run and keep the hydraulics.
