Two hurst dual gate questions
If I pull the shifter over to the manual gate, pull it down into first and hit it will it go just
to second? Or will it slide all the way up into 4th?
Second can I keep my ash tray or do I have to hack it up?

it will only shift into the next gear up, so if you are in 1st & move the shifter up/forward, it will only go into 2nd, it will not skip a shift. I had to remove my ashtray because the cover will not close all the way with the new shifter. Do you already have the shifter installed, did you have any fitment issues. My mechanic had a hell of a time installing this shifter in my 92 RS, he had to modify the baseplate to get the shifter to mount correctly. A couple of screws were missing, illustration was missing from the instruction. Other than those issues, the shifter is great.

I'm sorry I'm still not sure I'm clear. Is it exactly like the stock shifter where you can maunally click up one gear at a time, but go up too many gears if you aren't careful or does it have a mechnical lock out where I can bang it forward as hard as I want and it will only go up one gear until I let off and bang it forward again like the B&M mega shifter.
Haven't installed anything. i don't want to loose my ashtray because I have a toggle switch in the right side of it.

If you are not careful you can hammer it into nuetral! With a Dual Gate, just remember one thing, when you shift, don't push forward, push like this /, forward and to the side, if you do it like that you will never miss a shift. You can keep your ashtray if you cut the stock shift plate in half, me, I just made a switch panel instead.
