Well, the terms are somewhat interchangeable, but...
Locker typically refers to a PowerTrax or SLP take-off unit. The beauty of the PowerTrax is it can be installed with common handtools, which is great if you are satisfied with your current gear ratio and have an open rear. I have the strip springs in mine, and it clicks pretty loudly around corners, and will jerk a little under certain conditions - but it ALWAYS locks in a straight-line. The take-off unit requires 28-spline axles (no problem for your '92), but should be installed professionally - fine if you're changing ratios at the same time.
The typical clutch-type posi units have the benefit of smooth operation in around-town driving with lots of turns. The torque differential between the two tires that they typically will resist is in the 140 ft-lb range. The clutches require a friction modifier to obtain that smooth operation, and they will eventually wear out.
Which you get will probably be determined more by cost than by use or operation.
