car makes clunking sound when making mild right turns...

Whenever I turn right down a street, my car makes a "clunk" noise. I have no idea what this is. What could it be? Also, I have just noticed that when accelerating a little bit in first, it seems to run a bit rough and the dash board shakes a bit, then when it goes into second, it feels like it runs even rougher, unless I accelerate more. It doesn't sound like the motor is the problem, becuase I can't hear any problems when in park and just revving it. Any ideas?

Oh! I'm sorry - I forgot to mention. I'd rather no jerks respond to this, so I'll disreguard your reply.

Thanks for the response! I am not really too mechanically inclined, so I have no idea about what this could be. I was just concerned because I remember a long time ago some guy driving my car saying it's good there was no "clunking" sound when turning because most IROC's have that and it means something went bad but I can't remember what it was. I think it sounds like it's coming from the back.

First things first - Check to make sure your spare tire is bolted in properly. It's in the wheel well on that side of the car, and you'd be surprised how many times people bring their cars to the shop with this "problem". Anyways, if its not that start checking the rubber bushings on the shocks, and rest of the rear suspension.... then check for loose bolts or anything else unusual in that area.

and i suppose busted sway bar end links in rear can make a snap or pop over deep dips like at end of driveway onto main road, right ? sometimes on a good hard turn, but not that often.
