When my 305 with 700r4 gets to around 4500 rpm I feel a vibration. I've heard that the thirdgen driveshafts have a balance problem and that around 4000-4500 rpm is a resonate frequency.

Has anyone else heard this or does their driveshaft also act this way?

 

i'd start with wheels and tires then rotors ,but a DS is alos a good place to look. i swapped DS to see if mine was bad in my iroc, turns out one wheel/tire was full of water and mud. past owner must of broke the bead during a crash or something.

 

I can tell that the vibration is coming from the drivetrain in the tranny/driveshaft area. Someone also thought it might be ring gear related but I don't think so. Yet who knows?

 

If it's RPM related, it's not driveshaft, ring gear, or tire related, wouldn't you say?

I had a nasty vibration that was RPM related, turned out to be a bad torque converter. The donor car had been rear-ended hard, and the converter got wiped in the process. Still worked, just shook and rattled like all get-out.
