Flywheel question

I was just reading a post on the car shuddering in first gear and my car does it too. In that post the said that it could very possibly be a problem with the clutch and probably not the tranny.

In that post they recommended replacing the clutch and having the flywheel resurfaced. My flywheel is missing a portion of a few of the teeth on it so I figure I should replace the whole thing my question is will a lighter or heavier flywheel give me more performance?

A lighter one will spin up to speed faster but a heavier one will store more energy? I don't know a lot about this subject I just think I remember reading some where that some cars will actually be faster with a heavier flywheel.

Thanks for any information

Bill

depends on how your engine is built, if its built to rev high then go for light
