what is the 700r4 shift point on a 5.7L?
I'm curious because mine shifts at 5000rpm on my 5.7L I thought that I had heard from some people that there 5.7L shifts at 5500rpm. I was also wondering b/c the redline is at 5500 not 5000
Thanks

They have the tach redline and then there's the engine redline... the engine redline which people usually refer to is the highest RPM your engine can pull to. The peak of your power etc. Basically that is the point your engine will pull to on rpm then basically stops pulling at that rpm. This redline is usually due to restrictions in your intake/exhaust design where it can't get any more air/fuel in out efficiently enough to make power. The tach redline usually shows where this redline is but in reality, its around before yellow for most stock setups. Any mods done to free up air flow intake and exhaust or give it more air will change this redline for the better, where resrictions make it worse. The one other redline is something of a rev limiter to keep your engine within tolerance. They test to a specific range on rpm and drop the rev limit lower via fuel cutoff usually to ensure you don't go past where they tested and into engine fall break apart territory. Depending on the quality control it can be anywhere from 6500 - 9000 rpm for that.
A 5,200 rpm governor is about the max. for your setup. One, it depends upon the peak hp rating of your motor and at what rpm does this happen. If you can supply me the information, I can be of more help with your question.
