8 bolt

hi
I have a camaro 88 5.7 tpi
I`ve seen my rear axle there are 8 bolt , instead of normal 10 or 12.
what axle could it be? ford? smth else?

Sure theres not 9 bolts? It is probably a borg warner 9 bolt if so. They were the heavy duty option in the thirdgens from 85-90.

8 bolts on the ring gear or on the rear cover?

The Borg Warner 9 bolt axle has 9 bolts on the rear cover and 8 bolts on the ring gear. It should have a rubber plug on the rear cover and be stamped "borg warner" on the bottom of the center section.
