I am Swapping a manual 5 speed from a 1983 z-28 into a 1984 z-28 with a 700r4. I have removed the 5 speed. I have completed the prerequisite tasks for removing the 700R4 and expect to remove it during the 4rth of july holiday.
My Question:
I experianced some frustration in removing the manual transmission trying to use a 15mm socket. When I switched to 9/16 ths it worked much better.
I have heard that there are 2 bolts on the automatic that a real PITA to remove, so I would like to know before I start if anybody knows what size bolts hold the 700r4 to the engine.
Thank you in advance

3/8"-16 bolts, so you need a 9/16" wrench
Actually use a 9/16" socket on a swivel with a bunch of extensions. I usually grab 1/2" drive for this as the 3/8" flexes too much. Drop the x-member down and start at the top, all the bolts are very accessible from under the car, just make sure you don't smash the distributer cap off the firewall...
Thanks, For the valuable info.... I have already removed the distributor cap in case of problems banging against the firewall
