Tranny temp monifold, return or sender line?
Tranny temp monifold, return or sender line?
I just installed a freshly rebuilt 700r4 and bought a Autometer temp manifold(t-fitting with sensor provision) so I can read my tranny temps. When installing it, I decided that I would put the mainfold on the sender line since I wanted see what the trannys temp was before getting cooled. Now I thinking after reading various posts that most people read the temp from the return line side.
Does it make more sense to know the temp before it gets cooled or after? Thank you.

Thanks for the reply. I understand that the best way is to monitor the temp from the pan, but I chose not to do it this way due to time limitations. Maybe next time I change my fluid I'll put the sender in the pan.
But for now, does anyone have a preference on which line they would use? Sender or return?
Any help is appreciated, thank you.
