How does the top cover of a T-5 come off?

How does the top cover of a T-5 come off?
I have a T-5 out of a camaro, how does the top cover come off? I guess the shift forks and the rod that goes back to the shifter hold it on. Whats the trick?
Also how can I figure the year of this trans?
