87 5 spd. noise

I've got an 87 with 305/TPI/5 Spd. and the trans seems noisy to me. Like a bearing is going out. Just put new clutch/plate/throw out bearing in around 500 miles ago. I know it's the trans because it does it parked, and when you push in the clutch the noise stops. Trans shifts like a dream ,and is full of fluid. Are these tranny's known for losing bearings? I'd like to take care of this before it gets worse and costs big money. Thanks-Dan

I'm no tranny expert but I have a book on trans. give all sorts of reasons. My trans makes noise in neutral also, when I
talked to a trannt guy I know, he said it very well could be bearings.
From the sounds of it, I think it's a bearing. The book says it could be a worn or dried out pilot bearing.
I was told not to beat on the trans, because if this is a bearing prob, it's a lot cheaper to do that than when other things start breaking.
My suggestion is have it checked soon, possibly rebuilt.
