how hard is it to change the gear carrier from an open diff. to a lsd type posi. a friend of mine has a 3.23 and up posi he will sell me for $70 and im sure it in good condition, i just want to know what is involved in the process. thanks

There' a little more to it than that if you want it to survive awhile. As far as changing things over it's straight foward if you have wrenching skills, just remember the ring gear bolts are reverse threads. You'll also need to check the gear mess to see if they're meshing correctly otherwise you'll take the chance of breaking teeth off and then your done.

As long as the clutch pack is in good shape it will spin both tires in your burnout, then throw ya back into the seat when you launch-at the track that is. On the street you'll just start hanging the rear end out when you mash it. Keep this in mind though, the rearend will "unlock" when making a turn and takes a little bit to lock up again. At our track here the burnout box is an immediate right hand turn out of stageing lane, so I have to get lined up, back straight up about 8 feet or so, then pull back into the burnout box, otherwise my posi unlocked and I just spin the one tire.
