t56 swap
i can get a t56 from a 96 lt1 trans am. it will come with the bellhousing, pedals, yoke, crossmember, master and slave cylinders. and of course the trans itself. what of these parts will work in my iroc and what would i need to still buy?
also if this is from a 96 is it for sure going to have the .50 6th gear?
thanks for all the help!

The stuff you listed will work except for the crossmember, but what flywheel and clutch/pp you need depends on what year your IROC is.
If it's an '85 you have a 2-piece rear main seal engine, need an aftermarket (Centerforce?) flywheel and clutch. If it's an '86 or up you have a 1-piece rear main seal and OEM flywheel/clutch will bolt up.
If it's a '94 or up trans it has the 0.50:1 OD.

On the subject of flywheels
Kevin when 5 speeds are swapped into 350 cars with 1 piece main seal, is the 305 flywheel used? i.e. are the 305's and 350's balanced with the same flexplates/flywheels. I recently learned these engines are externally balanced with counterweights on the flexplate/flywheel. So potentially they could be different but from what I've seen it looks like they use the same pieces.
I'm thinking about going with a 383 and using the scat crank thats balanced to use the 350 counterweighted flexplate and was planning on using the 305 flywheel. Obviously this will only work if 305's and 350's are balanced the same.
If I went 6-speed would this same flywheel still work. Do LT1's use the same flywheel/flexplate as LB9's and L98's?
Thanks again
Pete

Can't help on T5 swaps, never done one. I can say for sure that T56's require a T56 flywheel and the T5 piece won't work. Clutch diameter is not equal between the two.

Heres a crossmember that will fit the T-56 in a third gen.
