a friend said the 700R4 is better cause it is a four speed rather that the two speed turbo 350, true yes or no

your friend lied to you right off the bat, a th350 is a 3 speed, a glide is a 2 speed. the 700r4 is among the hardest trans to rebuild and have a bad history of breaking. they do have OD which a lot of people like and you can run numerically higher gears and less RPM than a th350. a th350 would require an aftermarket torque arm or a b&m adapter kit.

so what do you think will be cheaper, what would you prefer getting it (700r4) rebuilt or buying the th350, or is there another tranny i should get

It all depends what you're using the car for. If you are using it as a weekend only car, than I would go with the TH-350. If its an everyday driver, i would defintely get the TH700-R4

A 700-R4 has the .70 4th gear. That will reduce your RPM's on highway crusing about 30% from 3rd gear. A TH-350 will be like riding around on the highway in 3rd gear of your 700-R4. #rd gear on a 700-R4 is 1:1 and so is the TH-350.
